Mary Beth Scott
Assistant Director

With more than 15 years of experience at Downs and 11 years in both teaching and administrative roles, Mary Beth Scott brings a deep love for early childhood education and a strong sense of community to Masters Academy. A proud third-generation graduate of Oconee County High School, Mary Beth earned her Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education from Piedmont College. She began her journey working in after-school programs and as a substitute teacher, and now serves as a trusted leader and Assistant Director.

Mary Beth has always felt drawn to working with young children—starting with helping her mother lead arts and crafts at Vacation Bible School and caring for her younger siblings. Her favorite part of teaching was witnessing the moment students finally grasp a concept they’ve been working hard to understand. Now, as Assistant Director, she enjoys visiting classrooms as a guest reader and supporting teachers so they feel heard, equipped, and valued.

Creative at heart, Mary Beth enjoys sewing, crafting, and reading in her free time. She especially loves books by Dr. Seuss, Laura Numeroff, and James Dean. Her favorite ocean animal is the dolphin, and she treasures time spent with her family and friends. Whether working with students or supporting staff, her hope is that every child remembers they were cared for deeply—and that learning was full of joy and discovery.
